Carmen Lombardo, owner of Lombardo's
Carmen Lombardo's father, his uncle and his older brother, Angelo, started in the restaurant business here in 1934, at Riverview Boulevard and West Florissant Avenue. "We had a small place, serving sandwiches and ravioli, and a little fruit stand next to it," said Lombardo. Mike Lombardo does the cooking downtown. Angelo Lombardo is in charge of the kitchen at the airport location, with assistance from Mike Metcalf. The third-generation recipes available at both locations are a mixture of Sicilian dishes and dishes from northern Italy. Big sellers are canneloni, the hand-cut steaks, veal, lasagna and fish.
